Why the wording stays exactly as it was

When a PDF has text you can select, that text is copied as it is. No AI rewrites or "improves" it, so a clause, an amount or a date cannot quietly change on the way. A scanned contract is read with OCR, which can misread a word, so check a scanned one against the original.

    Comes across

    • Every clause, with its numbering as text
    • Headings, indents and alignment
    • Signature images and logos, as pictures
    • The page breaks, so page references still hold

    Worth knowing

    • Clause numbers are text, not Word numbering, so they do not renumber themselves
    • A digital signature belongs to the PDF and cannot come across into Word
    • Running headers and footers stay in the body of each page

    Marking it up

Open the DOCX in Word and turn on Track Changes on the Review tab before you edit, so every change shows. Send it back as DOCX, or as a PDF with File, Save As.

    Questions

    What happens to my files?

They are uploaded to this server, kept only while the conversion runs, and deleted an hour after it finishes, on a timer that does not wait for another visitor. A file is uploaded as soon as you choose it, so its first page can be shown; if you close the window instead of converting it, it is deleted there and then, and otherwise an hour later. Only the browser that uploaded a file can see it or download the result, and nothing is passed to anyone else.

Will the Word document look like the PDF?

Close to it. Lines break in the same places and the page count matches. A typeface your computer does not have is swapped for Times New Roman, Arial or Courier New, and the spacing is adjusted so the lines still fit.

    Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Open it in a PDF reader that knows the password, save a copy without it, and convert that copy.
